Private Company Experience

Guy Gonzales is a senior business executive, board member, strategic advisor, and investor with 25+ years of experience in producing top revenue growth and profitability, turning around struggling operations, developing and executing marketing and sales strategies, building high-performing teams, and increasing customer satisfaction for Fortune 100, private equity, and venture capital-backed retail and consumer goods companies.

Guy began his career at Best Buy (NYSE: BBY) as a janitor, advancing across numerous roles over the span of two-plus decades as an emerging leader and top performer in commercial strategy, marketing, sales, operations, and customer experience, ultimately rising to Vice President of National Sales and managing $15 billion in revenue and 16,000 indirect employees. He often partnered with the CEO and CFO on high-level projects, which included rebuilding the sales engagement model, turning around a struggling market, developing localized strategy to combat competition, and redesigning the store portfolio and sustainability.

After Guy’s long career at Best Buy, he was recruited to Utopia, a VC-backed food and fitness concept. In his role as CEO, he stabilized the business with significant revenue growth in only 60 days after a 24-month loss, drove operational excellence and employee and customer retention, developed a novel customer-centric selling model, and redesigned the business model during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition to his corporate leadership experience, Guy leveraged his entrepreneurial spirit and passion for business by serving as franchise owner and investor for four salons within Boardroom Styling Lounge over the past 10-plus years. Currently, he manages $4.1 million total revenue and 85 employees across these four salons. This has included leading operations from the ground-up, as well as identifying locations, organizing logistics, spearheading market research, and hiring and training employees that align with Boardroom Styling Lounge’s business model. He also serves as a franchise board member and advisor to the private equity firm (LightBay Capital) that owns Boardroom Styling Lounge.

Throughout each step of his career, Guy has consistently displayed a knack for driving high ROI and profitability for companies, raising capital, achieving client retention, developing customized training programs, increasing business relationships, and serving as a trusted advisor to the C-suite on all key business decisions and strategic planning. He brings a unique ability when it comes to understanding people, consumer behavior, and investor needs, which allows him to identify important trends that can translate potential opportunity into market recovery, expansion, and profitability.

A visionary business leader who believes and truly lives the fact that you win with people.
